Following Jermaine Oneal’s campaign with the Raptors and the Miami Heat in his comeback year of 2008-2009. The rebirth reflects upon his injuries and hardships with the pacers. As he progresses through the season we see many flashbacks of his glory days and injury days in Indiana. I wish I had more footage in Miami and Toronto but I was very limited and had to improvise as best as I could!

Wanted to do somthing similar to the TNT first round mix were they used 4 minutes and the action was a bit slower. The song I wanted to use I looked for a female lead supported by a Male. I wanted to use this song for a while and thought it fit well. A problem was I wanted to incorporate the video which was animation :S So I added in footage from 2 other videos including 1 green screen cut. I had to match the lips to the music and I added a custom bg. The playoffs snuck up on me hence why its rough and my software was crashing on me so I couldent render properly hence the bad quality. Regardless, enjoy

MattBerdanSports™ will be a sports related website made for creating highlight videos and footage for high school athletes for the purpose of scouting. Scouts in the US usually look at Canadian athletes and request game tape to assess their talents. What MattBerdanSports™ will do is take their existing footage and create a video showing off all their strengths and talents in various ways. If they do not have any existing footage we will also offer a service to go proffesionaly shoot their footage. In the summer we will work on advertising and getting clients/sample work done and expect to be up and running by next school year.

Well this is the first monthly highlight tape I am creating on behalf of Raptors Republic. This one is sort of a test and just to get something out. I’m still having quality issues with youtube but expect better stuff soon. “For the first monthly highlight tape I decided to go with a somewhat serious theme to fit in the Raptors tough times. With a chorus to fit the theme of the new look Raptors, I Run suited the video perfectly. I matched some of the colour correction and added my own twist to make it consistent throughout the video. For those who enjoyed the little intro; don’t get too attached, it is just a temporary one for the time being.”

Well I had this idea a while back because of peoples relations to the Toronto propane explosion and Cloverfield and it all grew from there. I mixed audio from Cloverfield with video from the blast and made Oneal the Cloverfield monster :P Did this for jokes but I think it turned out pretty cool.

This is my video that I created to hype up Toronto about the Jermaine Oneal trade to Toronto. This is also my submision for the conferance finals of the M2 mixmaking playoffs. The mix itself is about Bosh and Oneal teaming up in the front court. It shows when Jermaine Oneal was in his prime and how he had a very similar style to Chris Bosh. This mix is about the Celtics and how they love war (Playoff basketball). I tried somthing new with alot of sound editing in the effects, the voiceovers and the commentaries. To go with the song I wanted it to go with a 300 theme. The intro was just basic and mostly to get the viewers hyped up but in that sense I think it was effective. The colour correct I tried to replicate somthing similar to that of 300 but also with my own touch to it too go with the Celtics. This was my second entry for the M2 Mixmaking Playoffs contest.

David Astramskas is the founder of Red Apples Solutions which is a marketing company that is partnered with NBA players Robert Horry and Antonio McDyess as well as ESPN, Team Flight Brother and numerous other clients. I will be enrolled in an internship were I will help David out with some of the work load all while gaining experience. It would also be cool to work on some stuff for ESPN and Team Flight Brothers. David has been somewhat of a mentor for me in our short time working together. He is always helpful and giving me advice weather its school, or post secondary or just anything multimedia related. It helps to know someone who is as experience and humble to learn from as David Astramskas.

Imarion is an award winning multi-faceted post-production studio located in the heart of the Toronto production industry. I started my Internship early in October and went 2 days a week until the end of June. I was doing a co-op program through my school were I get credits for going to work for free instead of going to classes. My time at Imarion brought me so much profesional experiance in broadcasting and produciton. Originally my teachers could not find anything of this career type and I almost ended up dropping the course and taking regular classes instead. In one final attempt I went online to look for some places myself which I found a few any my teachers sent out emails too. Some were only interested in university students, others didnt reply at all. But 10 days after the initial email to Imarion, I got a reply…I got an interview. They were kind of iffy about taking on an intern which they previously wanted to do but for a university student. They were also worried about how much I could actually contribute and do there because they might not have enough work for me without extensive training and knowledge which they did not really have time for being a busy company. Even though this wasnt mentioned I also think there may have been concerns about a highschool student that none of them know really being around all the expensive equipment either stealing it or breaking it. Despite all these drawbacks, I got the job and that is why I am so greatful to Imarion because after all the reasons they could of had for not hiring me they did. This was the first step into my profesional career. Surprisingly I learned alot and after i gained more confidence in what I was doing, I was responsible for certain jobs. Some of the tasks I learned and how to do are:

Patching Tape Decks and Differentiate between differant tapes (HDcam, Dbeta, MiniDV, DVCPro).

Capturing footage from decks to the Autodesk Smoke, Final Cut Pro, and the Avid Adrenaline.

Replacing offline images with High res images on the Autodesk Smoke.

Making/Editing tittle slates in Avid.

Burning DVD’s and creating dubs.

Secretary duties (Making calls, organizing couriers, making tape and DVD lables, logging in tapes).

I also got alot of experiance from “shadowing” the editors there and learning from them. I just want to thank everyone for Imarion for giving me the oppourtunity to intern thier.

The M2 mixmaking contest is a contest which I am running at the site www.mixmakers.net. It is a contest designed like the nba playoffs in which there are 16 contestants in two differant divisions (8 in each). A panel of judges was selected who had to rank all the teams from 1-16 and then split up into their seedings and divisions. 1st ranked goes to 1st seed division 1, 2nd ranked goes to 1st seed division 2, 3rd rank goes to 2nd seed in divison 1 and so forth. Each mixer must face thier matched up opponent. Each round will consist of a NBA video under 2 minutes. Contestants have 1 week between rounds to make their pieces plus a 3 day judging period. Winners will be announced by judge voting. The winner will move on to face the winner of their aligning bracket.

Some of the work I had to do to organize this was recruit participants as well as judges. I created a youtube channel to put up all the mixes so everyone could go to one place to see them. I also had to make sure everyone met deadlines, got their mixes in and answer any questions they may have. I am also responsible for making the contest run smoothly.
